Government of Uttar Pradesh:> An endeavour to make Uttar Pradesh the first zero-poverty State of India
About: Zero Poverty Uttar Pradesh Campaign
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti this year, (October 02, 2024) Government of Uttar Pradesh (UP) took a major and decisive call to eliminate extreme poverty from the face of the State in one year. The Government believes, the mandate can be achieved in this period. This decision not only underlines the resolve of the State government and its commitment to the cause, but also indicates its confidence to drive the campaign successfully and its methodological readiness. Historically and around the globe, poverty has remained a lingering and unresolved issue on the face of humanity; with switching definitions, strategies; and often in unmeasurable terms.
Uttar Pradesh’s methodology and strategy as elaborated in the government order issued by the Chief Secretary of the State, is rather unique. Subjecting a considerably large State apparatus to a disciplined technology-based regime is a bold measure in right direction. The suggested model is inclusive and transformative, offers a viable pathway of precise targeting of Ultra-poor families and pull them out of extreme poverty by concerting a set of determinants. The approach envisages to focus on and involve 360-degree citizenry at the last mile with an affirmative expression that “no person is left behind”.
“समावेश ऐसा की कोई भी ना छूटे”
Three tier meticulous, technology driven, and transparent mechanism is designed for identification of extremely poor families from each Gram Panchayat based on tangible vulnerabilities. Towards ensuring accountability and to consider views of segments from all corners, village level committees will be formed for onsite verification and recommending the families. The work process is end-to-end digitized and automated vulnerability-rating would play final selection.
Zero Poverty - UP Campaign is a commitment of Government towards promoting inclusive development. Government is open for partnering across the spectrum including Private Sector, Corporate Social Responsibility, financial institutions & banks, Civil Society Organizations, etc. to contribute to the spirit of the campaign in whatever feasible way one can.
